(This paper provides the discussion and theoretical analysis for the pooling designs that the Erlich lab has released in web-based software at http://pooling.teamerlich.org. The software implements these pooling designs, given user input, and produces pooling instructions that can used by either a liquid-handling robot or manually in conjunction with iPipet, a semi-automated open-source software tool that converts a tablet or iPad into a sample-tracking device for manually pooling specimens and also released by the Erlich lab.) As of 2017, we are revising this paper for resubmission.
